TDC Drying Systems
Whether purchasing a new Drying System or adding a Performance Upgrade to an existing Drying System, TDC will design to meet your plant’s performance requirements.

Some extra considerations taken beyond process requirements include:

  • Safety for personnel and equipment
  • Forklift access to heavy replaceable parts
  • Easy access to routine maintenance points
  • Planning for future equipment, hookups and space requirements
  • Strategic over-sized parts to handle future capacity increases

Planning for future expansion can save hundreds of thousands of dollars over the course of your investment, and your plant must evaluate if the decrease in cost of future expansion outweighs the increase in cost of the current project.  Through careful planning and an understanding of how all equipment in your system operates together, TDC’s Specialists can analyze your needs and guide you to make the best investment for your plant.

New Drying System
TDC offers a variety of new Single Pass Rotary Drying Systems ranging in size and number based on evaporative load and product to be dried.  Some of these variations are:

  • Direct Fired
  • Waste Heat
  • Indirect Fired
  • Biomass Fuels
  • Carbon Steel
  • Stainless Steel
  • Carbon/Stainless Hybrid
  • 4-foot to 18-foot+ diameter drums

After years of experience, TDC has found the rotary dryer to be the most versatile, cost effective, and easy to maintain drying configuration.  For more information regarding dryer selection please see Drying University.  TDC Dryer Specialists will work with you to determine the best kind of Drying System for your application and budget.

Performance Upgrades for an Existing Drying System
First TDC must conduct a Feasibility Study to determine whether the desired results are possible.  Then TDC can begin designing and implementing the changes to your Drying System, even if it is not originally a TDC system.  Another option to building an entirely new system is to use pre-owned equipment.  Used equipment will be a lower initial investment, but often ends up having higher maintenance costs.

Integrated Thermal Oxidizers (ITO)
A Thermal Oxidizer is a device that Oxidizes gases in order to combust Volatile OrganicCompounds (VOCs), CO, and other harmful gases in an exhaust gas stream.   TDC has developed a patented Integrated Thermal Oxidizer (ITO). The ITO uses the same burner and combustion chamber as the Dryer System and the excess heat from the ITO is recovered within the Dryer System.  This requires less equipment and therefore is less expensive than a standard Thermal Oxidizer.

Cyclones

A Cyclone removes the particulates from the air stream.  Particulate laden gas enters the Cyclone tangentially at the top of the main body.  Particulate falls out the bottom of the Cyclone and the clean gas exits at the top.  TDC offers High Efficiency Cyclones that balance the use of fan horsepower and separation efficiency.  The Cyclone size and number of Cyclones needed are determined by the expected volumetric gas flow.  If you have worn or damaged Cyclones, TDC can design new Cyclones or replacement parts for them as needed.

Combustion Chambers

A Combustion Chamber is where combustion takes place.  Combustion Chamber design is based on the specific burner, fuel, and intended application.  TDC designs Combustion Chambers to mix Exhaust Gas Recycle with combustion gases.  The method of mixing reduces NOx, does not impinge the flame, and assures a uniform mixture.  Depending on the application, TDC can use a stainless steel Combustion Chamber design to minimize the risk of fires and explosions by storing less latent heat than a traditional refractory design.

Mixers
TDC offers a counter-rotating, twin shaft, pug-style mixer.  The mixer is meant for heavy duty industrial applications and easy maintenance.
